You light that first fire of the season without a second thought. Your heating bills stay reasonable because everything’s running efficiently. You sleep soundly knowing your family is safe from hidden fire hazards.
That’s what happens when your chimney gets the attention it deserves. Our certified inspections catch the small stuff before it turns into the expensive stuff. Creosote buildup, liner cracks, loose mortar – we find it all and give you straight answers about what needs fixing and what can wait.
Your insurance company requires it. Your family’s safety depends on it. And honestly, it’s a lot cheaper than dealing with a chimney fire or major structural damage later.
Above and Beyond Chimney has been serving Providence County homeowners for years, and we understand what Rhode Island weather does to your chimney. The constant freeze-thaw cycles, the coastal moisture, the way different types of wood burn in your fireplace – it all matters when we’re looking at your system.
We’re CSIA certified, which means we’ve put in the hours to really understand chimney construction and safety standards. But more importantly, we’re part of this community. We see the same weather patterns you do, we know the local building styles, and we’ve worked on hundreds of chimneys just like yours.
When we inspect your chimney, you’re getting someone who knows what to look for and how to explain it in plain English.
We start with a complete visual inspection of your chimney from top to bottom. That means checking the cap, crown, flashing, and all the exterior masonry for cracks, loose mortar, or water damage. Then we move inside to examine the firebox, damper, and as much of the flue as we can see.
For a Level 1 inspection, this takes about 20 minutes and covers everything you need for regular maintenance. If we spot something that needs a closer look, we might recommend a Level 2 inspection with specialized cameras to see inside the flue liner.
We document everything we find and walk you through it step by step. No technical jargon, no pressure to buy services you don’t need. Just clear information about what’s working, what isn’t, and what you should prioritize.

Every chimney inspection covers the essential safety components that keep your home protected. We examine the chimney cap to make sure it’s keeping out rain and animals, check the crown for cracks that could let water in, and inspect all the flashing around the base.
Inside, we look at your damper operation, check for creosote buildup, and examine the firebox for damage. We also verify that your chimney liner is intact and properly sized for your heating appliance – this is especially important here in Providence County where many homes have been converted from oil to gas or added new heating systems.
In Rumford specifically, we see a lot of older homes with original masonry that needs attention. The coastal climate here is tough on mortar joints, and we know exactly what to look for. We also understand the local building codes and can tell you if any modifications need permits or professional installation.
